Answering Your Frequently Asked Questions! Pt. 1

I’ve been wanting to write a blog post where I answer your frequently asked questions as I have been less than social on social media sooooo I asked you all on YouTube and you came through! Thank you to everyone that responded and stay tuned because I plan on doing these Q + A blog posts on a regular basis!

I’ve been creating YouTube videos since 2011! It will actually be 10 years of creating content in March. Reflecting on my social media journey, I have realized that it’s not sustainable option. The older I get, the more I want to experience REAL Life and not REEL life. I still love sharing my journey and growth in hopes to inspire people in a positive way and what I would like to focus on is my journey of love, locs and life. Focusing on numbers all the time negatively impacted my mental health so I’m done with keeping up with the Joneses. Lately, I’ve been thinking about creating sustainable products so I’ve been brainstorming what that might look like. I have some ideas on what I would like to create but if you have anything you would like to see from me, let me know in the comments.
I posted a reel a couple of months back sharing all the different methods there are to maintain locs and that was a fun process in laying out all my options. After thinking about all of the options and reflecting on my past experienced with my first set of locs, I have decided that I want to go the semi-free form route. The main reason for this is to ease the tension of my scalp and prevent any sort of alopecia taking over (Y’all know how I damaged my scalp the first time and I don’t plan on repeating history). I’ve also been looking into maintaining my locs via the crochet method as it does a great job of minimizing frizz but I’m not well-versed in that so I might need to look into taking a class.

I plan to leave perfection behind; specifically, the urge to make sure my hair is freshly twisted on a regular basis. I want no parts of perfection anymore. I just want my hair to be and grow and thrive and thicken up. What I plan to bring with me to my new loc journey is peace and patience. For me, these two things are not always easy for me but every day in every way I am getting better and better.
After going through my breakup, I didn’t have any plans on dating. I really wanted to focus on my photography studio and my self. But you know what they say; when you plan, God laughs. Long story short, at the behests of my single girlfriends, I decided to try out an app called Hinge. On Mr. Man’s profile, he wrote that he was vegan. He messaged me and asked me what my favorite vegan restaurant is and the rest is history. Mr. Man being vegan was what attracted me to him. He was vegan since he was a teenager and I think there is something amazing that he can have that level of discernment so young; that was a major GREEN flag for me…among other things.
That’s all folks! I hope you enjoyed this blog post and if you have any questions you would like answered in a future Q+A blog post, feel free to ask in the comments!
